S355k2w Weathering Steel description
S355K2W is a modified weathering structural steel according to EN 10025-5.
S355K2W adds a certain amount of P, Cu, Cr, Ni, Mo and other alloying elements to the hot-rolled steel. In order to increase the air corrosion resistance, under the influence of climatic conditions, an automatic protective oxide is formed on the base metal.
Weathering steel generally adopts the process route of concentrate feeding-smelting (converter, electric furnace-microalloying treatment-argon blowing-LF refining-low superheat) continuous casting (feeding rare earth wire)-controlled rolling and controlled cooling. During smelting, scrap steel is added into the furnace along with the furnace charge, smelted according to the conventional process, and deoxidizer and alloy are added after tapping. When argon is blown, the molten steel is poured immediately, and the temperature-adjusted molten steel is cast into a slab by a continuous casting machine.
