Weather-resistant steel has the characteristics of rust resistance, corrosion resistance, life extension, thinning and consumption reduction, labor saving and energy saving. Weathering steel is mainly used for steel structures exposed to the atmosphere for a long time, such as railways, vehicles, bridges, towers, photovoltaic, high-speed projects, etc. It is used to manufacture structural components such as containers, railway vehicles, oil derricks, harbor buildings, oil production platforms and containers containing hydrogen sulfide corrosive media in chemical and petroleum equipment. Weather-resistant steel generally adopts the process route of refined material feeding - smelting (converter, electric furnace - microalloying treatment - argon blowing - LF refining - low superheat continuous casting (feeding rare earth wire) - controlled rolling and controlled cooling. During smelting, scrap steel is added into the furnace along with the furnace charge, which is smelted according to the conventional process. After tapping, deoxidizer and alloy are added. After argon blowing, molten steel is immediately cast. The molten steel after argon blowing and temperature regulation is cast into slab by continuous casting machine. Due to the addition of rare earth elements in the steel, the weathering steel is purified and the content of inclusions is greatly reduced.
