Hot rolling alone can produce low carbon steel plates of about 1.2mm and stainless steel plates of about 2mm, while thinner plates are produced by cold rolling, annealing and quenching and tempering rolling.

Cold rolled steel sheet

Cold rolled steel plate is used for parts that require a large degree of plastic deformation of materials, and the surface shall be free of wrinkles, cracks, etc. For different parts, use different grades of steel plates. For example, Japanese standards for automobile steel plates are divided into three categories. The first category (SPCC) is ordinary cold rolled steel plates, usually rolled with rimmed steel, the second category (SPCD) is rolling steel plates, and the third category (SPCE or SPCEN) is cold rolled steel plates for deep drawing.
In the past, rimmed steel was limited to unimportant stamping parts due to its large component segregation, unstable performance and aging sensitivity. If the aluminum killed steel without aging is used, the cost is 10-20% higher than that of ordinary rimmed steel. In the past, finishing cold rolling was used to inhibit the aging effect of rimmed steel plate, which actually only delayed the aging. All countries have studied new methods of improvement. The loose coil annealed steel plate (O.C.A) developed in the United States is a kind of rimmed steel plate that is specially annealed in an atmosphere containing water vapor and hydrogen. Because the annealing in this atmosphere can remove the solid dissolved carbon and the carbide in the steel, it inhibits the aging sensitivity and further softens the steel plate. At the same time, due to the growth of recrystallized grains, the composition of {111} aggregate crystals arranged parallel to the steel plate surface increased. According to the research of American Armco Steel Company, this is related to improving the plastic deformation anisotropy of steel plates, which improves the stamping formability of steel plates. In recent years, on the basis of loose coil annealed steel plates, the united annealing method (U.A.D) has been developed. This is to weld several coils of steel plates into a coil and put them in a special annealing furnace for decarburization, which has the advantage of saving costs compared with loose coil annealing, The steel plates treated in this way have been widely used in cold rolled steel plates for drawing.

Hot rolled steel plate

Compared with cold-rolled steel plate, the manufacturing process is simpler and the cost is lower. However, foreign experience suggests that the hot rolling method is only suitable for manufacturing steel plates with a thickness of more than 1.6 mm. For thinner steel plates, it is uneconomical. The surface quality and dimensional accuracy of hot-rolled steel plates are inferior to those of cold-rolled steel plates. In addition to the longitudinal beam, cross beam and various supports of the vehicle frame, hot-rolled steel plates also press wheel rims, wheel discs, etc. that require a certain strength, and have little force Shell cover plates with low surface requirements. The former is 3-5 mm thick steel plate, while the latter is used for both medium and thin plates. The use of hot rolled plates on automobiles is mainly thick plates. In the standard for thermal SLSN plates for automobiles formulated by the Japan Automobile Association, SAPH is used for car beams and wheels, and SPH is hot-rolled mild steel plate for the manufacture of stress free shells.
