What is carbon steel?
Carbon steel is the earliest use in modern industry, the largest amount of basic materials. Industrial countries around the world, in an effort to increase the production of low-alloy high-strength steel and alloy steel, but also pay great attention to improving the quality of carbon steel, expand the variety and use.
At present, the proportion of carbon steel production in the total steel production of various countries, about 80%, it is not only widely used in construction, bridges, railways, vehicles, ships and a variety of machinery manufacturing industry, but also in the modern petrochemical industry, marine development, etc., are also used in large quantities.
Carbon content is less than 2.11%, except for iron, carbon and limited within the impurities of silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, etc., does not contain other alloying elements of iron-carbon alloy. The carbon content of industrial carbon steel is generally 0.05% to 1.35%. The performance of carbon steel depends mainly on the carbon content. Carbon content increases, the strength of steel, hardness, plasticity, toughness and weldability is reduced. Compared with other steel types, carbon steel is used earliest, low cost, wide range of performance, the largest amount. Applications of carbon steel
Q195 is used for the manufacture of small load-bearing parts, wire, rings, washers, cotter pins, tie rods, stampings, and welded parts.
Q215 A is used to manufacture tie rods, collars, washers, carburized rings, carburized parts, and welded parts, etc.
Q235 A Grade A and B are used for the manufacture of metal structural parts, carburized parts or carbonitriding parts with low core strength requirements, tie rods, connecting rods, hooks, hooks, bolts, nuts, sleeves, shafts and joints; Grade C and D are used for the manufacture of important welded structural parts.
Q255 A is used to manufacture rotating shafts, mandrels, hooks, tie rods, rockers, wedges and other parts with low strength requirements. This negative weldability is fair.
Q275 Used for manufacturing parts with high strength requirements such as shafts, sprockets, gears, hooks, etc.
The main varieties of carbon steel are round steel, flat steel, square steel, etc. After cold and hot processing, the surface of the steel must not have cracks, scars, inclusions, folds and hairlines and other defects. Dimensions and allowable tolerances must meet the requirements of the corresponding national standards.
Carbon steel quenching is usually water-cooled, but the small size of the medium carbon steel, especially the diameter of 8-12mm 45 steel quenching is prone to cracking, which is a more complex problem. Measures taken to quench the specimen in the water quickly stirred, or the use of oil cooling, can avoid the emergence of cracks.
